The popular Third-Party WhatsApp application called GB WhatsApp has officially made announcement with regards to the abrupt shutdown of their service.

Official Communique.

This official communiqué was made through their Telegram Channel. A copy of their news release is quoted below.

We are really sorry to announce that we have completely stopped the development of GBWhatsApp. It was a great time with all you people. Sorry for the Inconvenience. Hence we have Closed all the Site, Social Accounts and Everything. There will be no further Development. – @GBModsOfficial

In view of this shutdown, contents on their website has been deleted though the website is still acessible.

It is quite surprising that this follows few months after Official WhatsApp came out with a policy to temporarily and permanently ban users of these MOD applications.

WhatsApp has been against these mods and has been cracking down on the developers including threatening a lifetime ban in June 2019 to GBWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus users. With GBWhatsApp shutting down, it will only be a matter of time before other mods follow suit

I personally happen to be a user of this WhatsApp Mod application and thus feel affected by this shutdown. GBWhatsApp and WhatsApp Plus used to be the most popular WhatsApp MOD applications among others.

GBWhatsApp was ahead of the Official WhatsApp in terms of its extra functionalities that WhatsApp lacked. These functionalities include the ability to could change the whole theme of the app, hide when online, create fake last seen, download stories, and much more.

Mostly when such incidence happens, we tend to find out that those key developers has been hit hard with offers from the Official Companies to which they can’t resist. It wouldn’t be a surprise to later come to a realization that these developers got an offer from Official WhatsApp.

My guess is that Mark Zuckerberg or in order to avoid singling him out, Official WhatsApp has either sued them or basically hired them to avoid them from coming up with better MODs that may wipe them out of business.

The last version of GBWhatsApp released was version 7.0 that was released on June 20 2019, as an anti-ban update. Current users of the service will continue using the app until around the end of August when the app is set to expire due to lack of updates.

Our advice is that if you are a user of GBWhatsApp, switch right away to the official WhatsApp app or wait until the expiration of this version but as has been tradition, it won’t be long before other developer forks up another WhatsApp client.
